I would like to acknowledge the support and commitment of the staff at Flowers on Norton St.  Without each and every one of you, we couldn’t do what we do… thank you for the fondest of memories, the amazing events and the daily tales of the day.  Flowers on Norton St is Sydney’s largest single owned flower shop and employ 10 staff with additional support staff, it is here that I give my thanks to all my staff for the tremendous daily job that they do, every day is as good as the staff.  To most we look like a small boutique flower shop at the end of Norton St in Leichhardt so I would like to take the opportunity to share a day in the life of the dedicated staff at Flowers on Norton St.

Our day starts at 4am with the buying of market flowers, this is done by Penny.  Penny then meets the staff at the shop at 6am to cut, unpack and prepare the shop to open at 8am.  Meanwhile other staff have already headed out to our many five star hotel clients for the weekly changeover of flowers before guests awake.  This is then followed by setting up breakfast corporate events as well as servicing and watering our other properties.

At 8am the retail store opens with two staff making and receiving all our daily orders and serving our clients in the local market.  At 10am more staff arrive - our events team commence with the deliveries of the lunchtime boardroom requests followed by the design and making of the dinner event requests.

Our hotel/contracts stylist starts preparing the next hotel property and corporate deliveries for the early am changeover.  Our hotel/contracts stylist works till 7pm.

Our wedding stylist assists with all enquiries, sampling and preparation work for weddings.  Flowers on Norton St typically has a minium of two weddings each week.  Our wedding stylist is also involved in assisting as additional shop support.

At 2.30pm our morning staff leave us and the staff who started at 10am continue on till 6.30pm.

While Penny's key role is company creative director and company buyer, her daily role is leading the concept of design while the staff at Flowers on Norton St execute, design, deliver and inspire.  Experience at Flowers on Norton St is vast and gained through length of service and naturally the practical experience brings wisdom and quality.

Flowers on Norton St prides itself on longitivity of staff with some staff being with the company for over ten years.  All staff work on a rotating roster with monthly change of roles so we continuely experience change and all become experienced floral stylists in all areas.  It’s a fantastic internal system for job satisfaction and skill training however we do recognise that some clients prefer the same familiar face so if you have had a lovely staff experience always feel free to ask for them.
