• Villawood is around 27 kilometres west of Sydney CBD and combines residential streets, shops, industry and transport links within one compact suburb. It borders Chester Hill, Bass Hill, Carramar, Old Guildford, Guildford and Lansdowne.
• Postcode: 2163. Villawood spans both the City of Canterbury-Bankstown and Fairfield City Council areas.
Villawood has one of Sydney’s more unusual naming stories. In the 1860s, Woodville Road was known as Dog Trap Road because farmers used traps to protect their livestock from wild dogs. When the railway station opened in 1922, it was called Woodville Road, but confusion with another Woodville in the Hunter Valley led to the name being rearranged as “Villawood”.
The suburb’s strongest historical connection, however, comes from the years after the Second World War. The Villawood Migrant Hostel opened in the late 1940s and became the first Australian home for thousands of migrants and displaced families. Shared facilities and basic accommodation made life difficult, but friendships, communities and new beginnings were created there. The story of Villawood, NSW even includes a musical footnote: members of The Easybeats met while living at the hostel during the 1960s.
Today, Villawood is a culturally diverse suburb with cafés, grocers, restaurants, community facilities and businesses around Villawood Place and Woodville Road. Part of the suburb falls within the City of Canterbury-Bankstown, while the town centre lies close to the Fairfield council boundary.
Villawood’s mix of homes, industrial sites and busy shopping areas means flower deliveries may be headed to very different destinations on the same day. Arrangements can be sent near:
• Villawood Place
• Villawood railway station
• Woodville Road
• Thurina Park
• Hilwa Park
• Villawood business precinct
A bouquet may be waiting at home after work, placed on a reception desk for a valued employee or delivered before guests arrive for a family celebration.
With industrial businesses and commercial sites forming a large part of Villawood, workplace flower delivery is especially useful for:
• Employee birthdays
• Promotions and retirements
• Staff farewells
• Corporate thank-you gifts
• Business openings
• Reception and meeting-room displays
Providing the company name, unit number and recipient’s department helps the driver locate the correct entrance, particularly within larger industrial properties.
A hospital stay can make even ordinary days feel long. A carefully chosen arrangement offers a warm reminder that friends, family or colleagues are thinking of the patient.
Hospitals within reach of Villawood include:
Check the patient’s ward before placing the order, as intensive care and some specialist departments may not accept fresh flowers.
School communities around Villawood include students and staff from several surrounding suburbs. Nearby education centres include:
• Villawood North Public School
• Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School
• Carramar Public School
• Chester Hill High School
• Fairfield High School
Flowers can acknowledge a graduation, presentation day, retirement, performance or the contribution of a teacher who made a lasting difference.
Villawood has welcomed people beginning new chapters for generations, making flowers especially fitting for moments of change. Flowers on Norton St can help you celebrate a new home, new job, birthday, engagement or family arrival, as well as send comfort during illness, loss or a challenging week.
