• Dawes Point sits at the northern edge of Sydney CBD, directly beside Sydney Harbour
• The suburb occupies the southern approach to the Sydney Harbour Bridge
• Nearby areas include The Rocks, Millers Point, Walsh Bay and Circular Quay
• Postcode: 2000
Dawes Point occupies one of the oldest European-settled parts of Sydney. Its name comes from Lieutenant William Dawes, an officer of the First Fleet who established an observatory on the point in 1788 to record astronomical observations.
The harbour soon gave the area another purpose. Wharves, maritime businesses and workers’ housing became part of the neighbourhood, while construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge dramatically reshaped sections of Dawes Point, NSW during the early twentieth century.
Today, sandstone buildings and narrow streets sit beneath one of Sydney’s most recognisable landmarks. Dawes Point forms part of the City of Sydney, with its harbour outlook, heritage character and proximity to Walsh Bay giving this small neighbourhood an identity quite different from the commercial streets nearby.
Around Dawes Point, deliveries may be headed to waterfront venues, restaurants, hotels or homes close to:
• Dawes Point Park
• Sydney Harbour Bridge
• Walsh Bay
• Pier One Sydney Harbour
Weddings, theatre nights, anniversary dinners and waterfront celebrations all bring their own reasons for having fresh flowers waiting when guests arrive.
• Sydney Hospital & Sydney Eye Hospital – Sydney CBD
• St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney – Darlinghurst
• Royal Prince Alfred Hospital – Camperdown
For someone spending time in hospital, flowers can carry a message that is difficult to deliver in person — congratulations, encouragement or simply a reminder that you’re thinking of them.
• Fort Street Public School
• Conservatorium High School
• St Andrew’s Cathedral School
A final performance, graduation or teacher farewell can be worth marking properly. A bouquet gives students and families a simple, personal way to say congratulations or thank you.
If you’re sending flowers to a Dawes Point home, hotel or harbour-side celebration, contact us, and we can help you organise an arrangement that suits the day.
